Jo Grootaers was only 19 when he took charge of the kitchen of Altermezzo. In a few years time the brasserie grew into a gourmet restaurant and the young chef became a revelation. Gault & Millau chose him Best Young chef of Flanders 2018 and Michelin rewarded him with a first star. Jo Grootaers cooks controlled and knows how to combine flavors well. He serves a 4 or 5 course vegetarian menu according to the inspiration of the moment and gives vegetables a full place with fish and meat.
