We're proud to share that Wim Demessemaekers, the official photographer of We're Smart®, is a finalist in the prestigious 2025 World Food Photography Awards. As a Belgian creative known for his poetic and powerful visual storytelling, Wim's nomination places him among the world’s best food photographers.
His nominated photo, work "Roasting Rituals", is featured in the category “Food for Life”.
The photo, captured within a Maasai community in Tanzania, depicts a collective moment of preparation around a fire. The jury praised its “restrained narrative power,” highlighting the image’s ability to transcend its subject: “a food-related action has become a ritual, anchored in slowness, care, and transience.”
The image reflects Wim’s hallmark: photography that is not only visually stunning but also rooted in meaning and sustainability.
