We’re Smart joins the Green Deal Protein Shift 2.0 in Flanders

On 15 September, We’re Smart proudly joined forces with more than 65 partners in signing the Green Deal Protein Shift 2.0 in Flanders. This ambitious agreement aims to bring more plant-based and local proteins to our plates, paving the way for a healthier and more sustainable future.

The protein shift – a transition from animal-based to more plant-based protein sources – is key to reducing environmental impact while also supporting better health. Over the next five years, all signatories will work together to accelerate this transition and inspire real change in our food systems.

The target is clear: by 2030, people in Flanders should obtain 60% of their proteins from plant-based foods, ideally sourced locally. By reducing reliance on animal protein, we can not only cut the strain of meat production on the planet, but also promote healthier, more balanced diets.

At We’re Smart, we believe vegetables are the future, and this Green Deal is perfectly aligned with our mission. Together with our partners, we are committed to making the protein shift a reality – one plate at a time.
