In Memory of a Remarkable Person: Edwin Loos
With great respect, we say goodbye to Edwin Loos – chef, We’re Smart believer, and editor-in-chief of Saisonnier Magazine.
In August, we at We’re Smart had to bid a heartfelt farewell to a dear friend.
The news came unexpectedly. We knew that Edwin had been struggling with kidney issues and undergoing several operations, yet his infectious optimism and energy never betrayed any sign of it. Even the stress surrounding the discontinuation of Saisonnier Magazine hardly showed — he was already making ambitious plans to relaunch it digitally with a new partner.
We formed a close-knit team during The Green Battle at BBB Maastricht – a culinary competition for Benelux hotel schools, challenging students to cook 100% pure plant.
We both believed it was essential to inspire the next generation of chefs to embrace the vegetable-driven cuisine of tomorrow.
At Folie Culinaire, we had the opportunity to personally offer our condolences to Edwin’s family, followed by a shared dinner. It meant a lot to us to express our respect and appreciation in person. Edwin approached life with a smile — always positive, good-humored, and eager to collaborate and find solutions.
With these words, we pay tribute to Edwin Loos, a man who truly deserves it.
We will always cherish the wonderful moments we shared — whether around a good meal, in conversation, or during events promoting the culinary world he loved so deeply.
Thank you, Edwin, for everything. You will forever remain in our hearts.
