Finalists Green Chef's Hat announced!
On 10 January, 2nd edition of the preliminary round of the Green Chefs Hat was at HORECAVA. This competition is all about pure plant cooking. The contestants who will compete for the title during Gastvrij Rotterdam are Restaurant Nazka, Koosh Kothari, and Chef Róbert, Robert van de Kolk. The competition organisers will hand out three more wildcards in the near future.
The focus of this competition is 100% pure plant cooking. A trend that can no longer be missed in the world of gastronomy.
The participants were allowed to bring their own unprepared amuse and had to cook a starter and an entrée with products from the blackbox, the fruit and vegetable stall of HANOS Netherlands and the various sea vegetables of Jan van As.
Under the watchful eye of the jury, which consisted of Frank Fol (Chairman We're Smart World), Luc Kusters (Bolenius * / 5 Radishes) Albert Kooy (Initiator Dutch Cuisine) the participants got down to work.
The groundwork for the finals was laid! "The winners have found a nice balance in their dishes. We are pleased to see that chefs dare to take up the challenge of adding excitement to vegetable dishes" said jury chairman Frank Fol.
The jury tipped the participants to make sure that the vegetables remain in the main role in the dishes and are not snowed under by additions.
Restaurant Nazka went home with the "Best Appetiser" prize and Chef Róbert took home the prize for "Best Intermediate".
Besides a trophy, the winners also received a cheque for €250 from "de Gastronomische Gilde"
